Geographic Location & Climate

-Brazil has six climactic regions: tropical rainforest, tripical wet and dry, tropical monsoon, semiarid, humid subtropical, and subtropical highland. Along the equator, temperatures average around 77°F but do not reach the summer extremes of up to 104°F.
-During the winter (June-August) at the Tropic of Capricorn, there are frosts and in some years snowfalls on the high plateau and mountainous areas of some regions.
-In the cities of Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, the weather usually falls between 59°F and 86°F because of their elevation of 3281 ft.
-Levels of precipitation vary. Most of Brazil recieves moderate rainfall between 39in. to 60in. per year (with most rain falling during the summer [December-April]). The Amazon is extremely humid, with rainfall at more than 79in. per year. In parts of the western Amazon and Belém, the average rainfall reaches as high as 118in. per year!
